This book is a really great read and being a Bowie fan myself I’d say it’s essential reading, as Woody covers that all-important transition from David being seen as (and feeling like) a ‘one-hit wonder’ following the reasonable success of Space Oddity the first time ’round, through the whole intricate process of change into being Ziggy and onto global superstardom.
Because Woody was living with Bowie in Haddon Hall during this time and recording Man Who Sold The World, Hunky Dory and Ziggy Stardust as a band member, his insights and experiences are unique and actually surprising.
Plus, he’s a really nice guy.
Definitely recommended.
Even if you don’t buy this copy I’d say get one.
But, this one is extra special though… : )
